Benefits of Membership

  • Participation in the General Assembly and other membership platforms and contributing to the KWID strategy development and decision making processes as well as influencing the policies and priorities of the Forum;
  • Opportunity to participate in the governance structures of the Forum including the Board and District Coordination Committees through established procedures;
  • Access to the Information Resource Centre;
  • Involvement and participation in collective initiatives, activities and spaces organised by the organization;
  • Collective voice and action on matters of common interest to Civil Society Organisations;
  • Members benefit from the work of the Organization through a number of membership targeted programmes and activities.

Membership Rights

  • Vote
  • Be elected to any organ or committee of the organization
  • Access to relevant information
  • Cease membership
  • Participate fully in the proceedings and activities of the Organization
  • Exercise full voting rights in the general assembly

Membership obligations

  • Abide by the constitution and other policies
  • Observe the Code of Conduct of the Organization;
  • Promote Kigezi Women in Development, its vision, mission and values;
  • Pay annual membership fee as shall be determined by the Board from time to time
  • Attend at least 75% branch meetings
  • Attend Annual General Meeting
  • Observe discipline, behave honestly and be loyal to the decisions of the majority of the members of the organization;

How to become a member

  • Membership is voluntary
  • Membership is open to adults who are interested in addressing issues of Vulnerable persons, between 5 and 25 members in each branch. The branches are according to parish administrative units within Kigezi sub-region
  • Each branch should comprise of at least 75% women:
  • Membership application shall be presented in a standard form to the branch office presented to and approved by the KWID vetting committee before applicants become registered members.
  • The identification of members shall not be based on political or religious affiliations, marital, ethnic and racial status
