Since 1991, the Centre for Women’s Global Leadership has conducted the 16days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaigns from 25th November -10th December. Throughout the years, this campaign has gained momentum reaching endless corners around the world. GBV prevention networks have been organized in all corners East, West, North, and South of this world since 2004.
In 2018 KWID spearheaded celebrations to mark 16 Days of activism against GBV in Kabale District under the theme “Hear Me too”. The following results were realized.
- 22 awareness talks on GBV in schools and places of community gathering were conducted.
- 20 Radio talk shows were held on popular radio stations in Kabale District. The campaign disbanded the myth that violence is an appropriate form of conflict resolution and raised awareness on sexual and human rights in Kabale. For instance, the feedback received from people calling on radio talk shows showed that the campaign enhanced awareness on emotional and economic violence.
