Livelihood & Community Empowerment
KWID has been consistent in improving women and other vulnerable person’s livelihood and pioneered mobilizing vulnerable persons to participate in development programs, access skills, and resources.
We have empowered women to access household basic needs. We have equipped women and other vulnerable persons with knowledge and skills in starting, managing, and sustaining income-generating projects. We have mobilized women and vulnerable households to save and access soft loans to use to start income-generating activities to be able to provide basic needs to their families.
We have provided platforms for women to engage with duty bearers and opinion leaders to come up with practical actions to address gender inequalities and removing structural barriers to women’s economic empowerment.
Our advocacy has resulted in improved women’s participation in development processes and programs.
We have constructed and marketed energy-saving stoves in Kabale and Rukiga districts to reduce environmental degradation and avert issues of climate change.
